CoxaTrain®

CoxaTrain hip orthosis fitted on the hip and thigh

Description

CoxaTrain relieves hip pain, reduces muscular imbalance and provides stabilising guidance for the joint when walking. The pain-relieving effect of the orthosis and its positive influence on the wearer’s gait support movement treatment for moderate to severe osteoarthritis of the hip, rheumatoid arthritis or impingement syndrome. As required, the flexion and extension of the hip joint can also be limited.

CoxaTrain provides stability by surrounding the pelvic girdle with an elastic support and relieves the sacroiliac joints (SI joints). During movement, two SI joint friction pads massage the local ligament structures and adjacent muscles. A lateral joint splint is positioned on the leg with a height-adjustable thigh support. A cushion protects the greater trochanter. The viscoelastic trochanter pad is positioned directly above the cushion and moves up and down as the wearer walks. The gluteal pad, another laterally positioned viscoelastic pad, features three nubs that exert a transverse massage on trigger points across the muscle fibres.

CoxaTrain can be adjusted without tools. Flexion and extension can be restricted with limiting pins in three stages (60°, 75°, 90°) for gentle mobilisation. These pins can be ordered as an optional extra.

Features

  • Relieves hip pain during movement
  • Provides stabilising guidance of the hip joint and improves the gait
  • The flexible trochanter pad exerts a relieving massage on the tendon insertions of the hip muscles above the greater trochanter
  • The gluteal pad and dorsal SI joint friction pads massage local ligaments and muscles and counteract imbalances around the pelvis and hips
  • Flexion and extension of the hips can be limited to 60°, 75°, 90° as necessary
